National Data Set Specifications (DSS) for prostate cancer and testicular cancer

Why is cancer data
and data set specification
development important?

Uses of cancer data

Andrology Australia is pleased to be working with Cancer Australia to develop data set specifications (DSS) for prostate cancer and testicular cancer to assist clinical monitoring and reporting of the treatment and care received by men affected by these conditions.

It is anticipated that once complete, these data set specifications will become nationally recommended standards for clinical prostate cancer and testicular cancer data collection.

Project updates

National Data Set Specifications (DSS) for prostate cancer

The Prostate Cancer (Clinical) DSS has been formally endorsed by the National Health Information and Performance Principal Committee (NHIPPC). The PCDSS is now listed in the Health Sector data set specifications in METeOR and the PCDSS is now publicly available.

National Data Set Specifications (DSS) for testicular cancer

Data items and definitions for the DSS for testicular cancer have been finalised following further consultation with key stakeholders. Piloting of the data set has occurred to test the adequacy for use in clinical settings. Recommendations from the pilot will be made to the project working group and will be used to update the DSS.
